Biography

Arnulf Meffle was on the West German handball squad at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics that won the silver medal after losing 18-17 in the final to Yugoslavia. Therefore, all players were awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. Meffle won 71 international caps and scored 117 goals. In 1978, he was a member of the West German squad that won the World Championships.

Domestically, Meffle played with TuS Hofweier in the Bundesliga in 270 matches scoring 641 goals. In 1987, he moved to Racing Club Straßburg in France, but returned to Hofweier after two seasons. By profession, he became a sports teacher and handball coach.
