Biography

Goalkeeper Siegfried Roch was on the West German handball squad at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics that won the silver medal after losing 18-17 in the final to Yugoslavia. Therefore, all players were awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. Roch won 38 international caps.

Domestically, Roch played 471 Bundesliga matches with TSV Milbertshofen (until 1981) and TV Großwallstadt (1981-97) and helped them to win the German Championship in 1984 and 1989, and the DHB Cup in 1984, 1987 and 1989. Roch became sports manager at Großwallstadt in 1997 and was very successful, before a move to TuS Nettelstedt-Lübbecke and later to HSC 2000 Coburg. His daughter Isabell also became an international handball goalkeeper.
