Biography

Elisabeta Ionescu played handball for Romania at the 1976 Montréal Olympics, just missing a medal as the team finished fourth. Ionescu was a goalkeeper. She won a silver medal at the 1973 World Championships. She was first named to the Romanian national team in 1971 and earned 81 caps.
