Valentina Lutayeva was a Ukrainian handball player and part of the Soviet team that won a gold medal at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. She played in all five matches of the tournament. Between 1973-84 she played in Zaporizhzhia for the club SII. From 1986, goalkeeper Lutayeva played three years with HK Motor Zaporizhzhia. She then moved to Poland, playing in Wrocław in 1989 and the following year in Slovak Bratislava. By profession she became a teacher and handball coach. She died in 2023 after a long illness.
