Austrian judoka Michaela Bornemann participated in the extra-lightweight division at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. She was eliminated in the repêchage rounds for the medals and eventually tied ninth.
Bornemann won six individual national and three team titles and collected a team bronze at the 1989 European Championships. She also won nine World Cup medals in Europe. Bornemann later owned a studio specialising in medical foot care and massage at her hometown Leibnitz.
