Biography

German half-middleweight judoka Frauke Eickhoff lost her bronze medal match against China’s Zhang Di at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and finished fifth. She won the World Championship in 1991, and two silver medals at the 1991 and 1992 Europeans, having already won a bronze medal at the Europeans in 1988. In 1995, she won her only German national title.

Eickhoff wears the 6th Dan and became a biology and sports teacher at Braunschweig by profession. She also became a graduated judo coach with an “A” license. From 1996-2000 she was chief coach of the German U17 national team.
