Biography

German extra-lightweight judoka Kerstin Emich lost her second-round bout against the Italian Giovanna Tortora at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and was eliminated in the pool stage. She also lost to Tortora in the bronze medal matches at the 1990 and 1991 European Championships.

Nationally, Emich won six titles in 1983, 1986-87, 1990-92. With her home club JC Rüsselsheim she also won the team titles in 1983 and 1986-87. Emich later became a graduated pharmacist and worked at the institute for clinical pharmacology at the Goethe University of Frankfurt.
