Biography

Jacques le Berré took up judo when he was 15-years-old and competed in his first tournament just a year later, with him eventually winning four French titles. Le Berré won his first international medals at the European Championships with silver at the tournaments in 1959 and 1960, before becoming the European under 80 kg champion in 1963. These performances earned him a place on the French Olympic team where he finished ninth at the 1964 Tokyo Games. He won his final international medal with bronze at the 1965 European Championships. From 1965 to 1991 Le Berré worked as a coach, including working with the French national team during the late 1960s.
