Nils Haeggström finished 12th in the first edition of modern pentathlon at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. By far his best event was the final run in which he placed second.
Haeggström’s father owned a book printing and publishing firm. Nils was a career officer who held the rank of captain in 1930. He served as a field pilot in the Västerbotten Regiment in Umeå, where he also represented the Army club I20 IF. He married his wife Elsa (née Hierta) in 1924
