Teddy Warwick

Teddy Warwick went to the 1924 Paris Olympics as the two-time ABA flyweight champion, having beaten Jim McKenzie of United Scottish BC in both 1923 and 1924. In Paris, however, Warwick was unfortunate to be drawn against Fidel LaBarba of the USA in the first round. The American went on to win the flyweight gold medal, beating McKenzie in the final.

Warwick made it three consecutive ABA tiles in 1925 after beating William James, but was eventually dethroned by Scotland’s Johnny Hill in 1926. Warwick stepped up to bantamweight in 1927 and won his fourth ABA title with victory over another Scot, J. Smith of Edinburgh. Later that year, Warwick announced his retirement and quit the sport. He worked as a fruit porter at Covent Garden market.
