Biography

Hans-Joachim Brauske was an East German middleweight boxer. He lost his eighth-final against upcoming Olympic Champion Vyacheslav Lemeshev from the Soviet Union at the 1972 München Olympics. In 1966 and 1967 Brauske won East German national titles as a light-heavyweight, while in 1969 and 1970 he took the middleweight titles. He competed at the 1966 Europeans and won a bronze medal at the 1971 Europeans.

Brauske later became a well-known boxing coach in East Germany, first in his home town Halle an der Saale, and later as a national amateur boxing coach. After reunification he returned to Halle.
