Denmark’s Bjarne Eltang was a two-time rowing world champion in the single sculls during the 1980s. Eltang’s first success at the World Rowing Championships came in 1981 in München when he won bronze with Leif Kruse in the lightweight double sculls. Switching to the single sculls Eltang won back-to-back world titles in 1983 and 1984. At the 1986 World Rowing Championships in Nottingham he won the silver medal, finishing just 0.02 seconds behind Australia’s Peter Antonie. At the 1988 Seoul Olympics Eltang and Per Rasmussen competed in the double sculls with the pair finishing in sixth place.
