Biography
Poul Thymann was on the stroke of the Danish coxed four to win bronze at the 1912 Olympics in Stockholm. With only two boats in each race, they lost the semi-final against the eventual winner from Germany. Together with the loser of the second semi-final, the boat from Norway, they tied for bronze.
Poul Thymann graduated as an engineer and worked at the mechanical department of the Copenhagen Water Supply. Jenny Marie (née Froberg) became his first wife in 1926. After divorce, he married Annelise Johanne Gliemann, 25 years his junior, in 1937. His second wife gave him two daughters.
