At the 1912 Olympics, Auguste Richard was a member of the French inriggers’ coxed fours at the 1912 Olympic in Stockholm. In World War I, he served in the 31st Infantry Regiment as a second-class soldier. He was killed in action in the first weeks of the war, when his regiment tried to attack the village of Fossé close to the Belgian border.
