Frank Jerwood was educated at Oakham School in Rutland before going to Jesus College, Cambridge. He studied to be a Church of England minister and finished his clerical training at Cuddeston College, Oxford. He was ordained as a priest at Peterborough in 1912. At Cambridge he won his rowing Blue as bow to the 1908 Boat Race winning crew.
Jerwood first went to Oakham as a pupil in 1902 and returned as a master in 1914. He was an assistant maths master and also the school chaplain, and remained until the end of the 1937 summer term. After serving as a parish vicar at Mountsorrel, Leicestershire, he was appointed rector at Burton Overy (also in Leicestershire) in 1945 and continued until his retirement in October 1957.
