Robin Johnstone was educated at Eton and Cambridge University. He coxed the Cambridge boat, when they won the Boat Race in 1920, and later that year also coxed the Leander boat that won the silver medal in the eights at the Antwerpen Olympics. Johnstone later received an aviators’ certificate with the Hanworth Club.
