Rower Monika Kallies was a member of the East German gold medal winning coxed eights at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. In 1975, she was also a member of the eights that won the World Championships, and earlier the same year the boat also won the East German title. Kallies later trained as an industrial clerk, and worked with the administration of the SV Dynamo Gera club.
