Biography

Kersten Neisser rowed on the gold medal-winning East German eights at the 1980 Moskva Olympics. At the World Championships in 1977 she won the gold medal in the eights, and added the silver in 1979. In between, she won the coxed fours gold in 1978.

Domestically, Neisser won the nationals with the eights in 1977 and 1979, and with the coxed fours in 1978 and 1979. She later married rowing coach Roland Köpke, but divorced after German re-unification. She became a graduated sports teacher and worked as a physiotherapist with her home club ASK Vorwärts Potsdam. Neisser, later named Kriesel, owned a physiotherapist practice at Elmshorn.
