German rower Andrea Gesch was a crew member of the eights at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics that finished eighth. Her best international result was the fourth place at the 1995 World Championships in the coxless pairs, partnering non-Olympian Heika Zazworka. In 1995, Gesch won the German national with the coxed fours, and the following year with the eights.
