Biography

Béla Farkas began his boxing career in 1939 as at athlete of BTK, then continued as a competitor for Vasas in 1948, and Bp. Dózsa from 1951. He won the Hungarian championship three times, first as a featherweight In 1948, and then as a lightweight in 1950 and 1951. He competed twice at the Olympics, in 1948 in London in the featherweight, and four years later in Helsinki in the light welterweight, but on both occasions he was defeated in the first round and finished unplaced. At the World College Championships he finished fourth in 1949 in Budapest, and won a silver medal in 1951 in Berlin.

After the revolution in 1956 he left the country with him settling in England. During his sports career Farkas worked as a mechanic.
