At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics German rower Gerhard Voigt was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the double sculls, alongside Horst Hoeck. This boat also won the 1928 German title. Voigt earlier rowed the single sculls and finished third at the 1927 German Championships.
