Nikos Chatzigiakoumis was a Greek rower who was a member of the Rhodes Naval Club. After World War II ended Chatzigiakoumis joined the Navy, where he would gain a degree as part of his military service. Whilst in Greece he won 19 championship titles and the pan-European championship in 1952.
Chatzigiakoumis emigrated to Australia in 1954. Two years later, he represented Greece in the single sculls at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, finishing last in his heat. Chatzigiakoumis was one of the torch bearers for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. In 2006, he was part of a delegation of Greek athletes that also included Stelios Bonas and Georgios Papavasileiou to mark the 50th anniversary of the Melbourne Games.
