Pasquale Aiese was an Italian rower who competed mostly in the pair alongside long-time partner Marco Romano. In 1981 Aiese won his first of 13 Italian titles, seven in the lightweights. In 1982 he won a World Championship in the lightweight four. He won the 1984 University World Cup and paired with Romano that year at the Los Angeles Olympics, placing fifth. In 1986 they took silver in the pair at the World Championships.
In 1987 Romano moved to The Netherlands, breaking up the pair, and Aiese returned to his studies, earning a second degree, in medicine, after one in biological sciences. In 1984 Aiese was awarded the Gold Medal of the Italian Olympic Committee for his rowing achievements. In more recent years (2016) he has been expelled from the FIC (Italian Rowing Federation) for his personal anti-doping crusade, which he has conducted in a somewhat obstreperous manner.
