Francesco Dapiran qualified for the 1948 Olympic double sculls with Mario Ustolin when they won a pre-Olympic event in Milano. After the London Olympics Dapiran started coaching at Saturnia and coached many Italian rowers who competed internationally, including his son, Fulvio, who won Italian titles several times. He later coached at Neptune, but returned to Saturnia in the late 1970s. Dapiran also worked as an engineer.
