A middleweight boxer, Albert Papilaya made it to the quarter-finals at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. He was a seven-time champion at the Southeast Asian Games and also won the Presidential Cup in Indonesia. Papilaya worked as a police officer, and eventually was named Police Commissioner in his hometown of Jailolo in North Maluku Province, serving at Polda Metro Jaya.
