Lex Redelé, rowing for the Koninklijke Roei Vereniging Dordrecht, was the top single sculls rower in the Netherlands in the late 1950s. He claimed the national title four years in a row, 1957-1960, first winning as an 18-year-old. He represented his country the 1957 and 1958 European Championships, missing the 1959 edition due to a broken arm suffered in a car accident. He was favored for a spot in the 1960 Olympic final following a 3rd place at the important Rotsee Regatta in Luzern, but after losing to eventual winner Vyacheslav Ivanov in the heats, he was surprisingly beaten by Harry Parker in the repêchages. The following season, Redelé was surpassed nationally by Rob Groen, and he retired subsequently. Redelé later worked as an economist.
