After placing ninth in the light-flyweight division at the 1984 Olympics, Yehuda Ben Haim finished sixth at the 1986 World Championships and was thought to have a shot at a medal at the 1988 Olympics. However, the draw saw him required to fight on Yom Kippur, and he withdrew from the event on religious reasons. He died fairly young after a long illness.
