Biography

Giuseppe Farfanelli was an Italian boxer from the Umbria Region. He started boxing as a featherweight and won the 1935 Italian amateur championship in Milano. A year later he competed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he was eliminated in the first bout by the Brit Jack Treadaway.

Farfanelli turned pro in 1938, fighting as a lightweight, and won his first match at Jovinelli Theater in Roma in September 1938 against Mario Desideri. In January / February 1940 he twice fought Oberdan Romeo for the Italian title; they drew the first bout, but Farfanelli won the second in Terni, his adopted city. He kept the title for five months but lost it by unanimous decision against Otello Abbruciati at the Politeama Theater in Terni.

Farfanelli continued to fight even during the war years and ended his career in December 1945 in Ascoli Piceno, losing by decision against Antonio Volponi. In a seven-year pro career he had 44 bouts with a record of 18 wins, 16 losses and 10 draws.
