Austria’s Bavarian-born Gerhard Petritsch was a four-time Olympian. With the rapid-fire pistol he won the bronze medal in 1980 at Moskva (Moscow) and placed eighth, seventh and 13th respectively at München (1972), Montréal (1976) and Los Angeles (1984). Petritsch also won the bronze medal at the 1978 World Championships.
Petritsch won 45 national titles in total. He trained as a lithographer but later worked as a bank clerk.
