Biography

Hermann Sailer was an Austrian sports pistol shooter who participated in the 1980 Moskva (Moscow) and 1988 Seoul Olympics. He placed 19th and 29th respectively in the rapid-fire pistol events. His greatest moment came in 1986 when he won the silver medal in the standard pistol event at the World Championships. The same year he also won team silver (standard pistol) and a team bronze (rapid-fire pistol).

Sailer started his sports career as a wrestler from 1950-68 and won two Austrian national titles. In 1967 he began pistol shooting and won his first national title the following year. He later became a graduated sports shooting coach.
