Fritz Schattleitner started his shooting career at the age of 15. He competed at one Olympics, at Mexico City in 1968, finishing 35th in prone small-bore rifle. After his active career he became a shooting official and represented the ISSF and the European Shooting Confederation ESC at nine Olympics from 1976 to 2008, and many World and European championships.
In 2010 he was elected as an ISSF honorary member. In his home country he was awarded with the Golden Order of Merit of the Austrian Republic. Schattleitner’s career was as a forestry director. After a long illness he passed away at the age of 92.
