Biography

Guido Mazzinghi was the older brother of Sandro Mazzinghi (1938-2020), the well-known Italian boxer, and two-time world light-middleweight champion. Guido was also a good boxer as an amateur and professional. He participated at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics in the light-middleweight division, where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals by the Argentinian Eladio Herrera. In this division, Guido was the Italian amateur champion in 1953, and professional champion from 1956-58. In a 36-bout professional career, he enjoyed 35 wins, and only one defeat, when knocked out by the Frenchman Andre Drille at Paris in June 1957.
