Trieste’s Umberto Pittori was an Italian boxer. As an amateur he was Italy’s finest welterweight in the mid-1930s, winning three Italian championships: 1935 in Milano, 1936 in Roma, and 1938 in Parma.
Internationally Pittori competed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he lost to the Hungarian Istvan Mandi. Pittori turned pro in 1938, and in a 10-year professional career had 37 contests, with 19 wins (3 by KO), 13 defeats (1 by KO) and 5 draws. He fought exclusively in Italy and never fought for an Italian title but did defeat some well-established fighters during his career including the Olympic gold medalist Carlo Orlandi, Cleto Locatelli, Ettore Mortale, and Amedeo Deyana.
