In 1920 and 1924 he narrowly missed a medal in three events when he placed fourth. After missing the 1928 (no shooting events) and 1932 Olympics, he returned in 1936 and competed with rapid-fire pistol but with limited success. After World War II, he focused on small-bore rifle shooting and competed a last time in London in 1948 at the age of 56.
