Biography

Luis del Cerro did not take up sport shooting until 1960, when he was already in his mid-30s. Nonetheless, over the course of his career he competed in four editions of the Summer Games for Spain, in the three positions, 50 metres event in 1968, and in the prone, 50 metres event in 1972, 1976, and 1984. His best finish came in 1984, when he placed joint-30th alongside 11 other competitors, including his compatriot Jorge González. He had more success at the Mediterranean Games, winning a bronze medal in prone in 1975 and just missing the podium in the same event in 1979, finishing fourth. He also came in eighth at the 1971 edition and took part in the 1970 World Championships.
