Franco Zurlo boxed for Italy at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, losing in the second round. He turned professional in 1965, and fought through May 1979. He was rated as high as the #3 bantamweight by The Ring magazine. Urlo held the Italian bantamweight crown for nine years, and was a three-time European Boxing Union bantamweight champion.
