Frederic Moore

Frederic Moore was the captain of the six-man team that won the gold medals in the 1908 Olympic clay pigeon team event. He also placed equal seventh in the individual event.

A leading figure in British clay pigeon shooting for much of the 1890s and 1900s, Moore served as the president of the English Inanimate Bird Shooting Association (IBSA) in the late 1890s and as captain of the English national team for many years. He was first involved with the St. George’s Gun Club in the 1890s, then with the Middlesex Gun Club for the next two decades, serving as its chairman in 1914.

Moore worked with James Lyle & Co. on Old Bond Street in London and was a tea and coffee merchant by profession. He was also involved in organizations such as the St. George’s Harmonic Club and The Universal Cookery and Food Association. Born in Dorset, he was the son of a musician and organist, William Walling Moore.
