Biography

Rapid-fire pistol sports shooter Norbert Klaar won the gold medal in the 25 metres event at the 1976 Montréal Olympics, just ahead his teammate Jürgen Wiefel. In 1977, Klaar won a team gold at the European Championships, and in 1981, a team silver at the Worlds. In 1979, he won his only East German individual title.

Klaar was employed by the People’s Police during his active career, and later studied state science. He then worked with the Ministry of Internal Affairs. After re-unification. he became Regional Chief Coach of Brandenburg.
