Sports pistol shooter Gernot Eder represented East Germany at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and placed fifth in the free pistol event and ninth in the air pistol event. Four years later, he competed for re-unified Germany and finished 20th and 19th, respectively, in those events. At World Championships Eder won two silver and three bronze medals with the team. His daughter Josefin also became a sports shooter.
