As a teenager, Karasevdas became involved in the then nascent Greek sports world. Besides being a marksman, he was also a good swimmer, but did not compete in that sport at the Olympics. A law student at the time, Karasevdas was the only shooter to hit all targets in the military rifle event, and thus won comfortably. The year after his Olympic success, he joined the army. He became involved in every one of the many conflicts Greece was involved in over the coming decades, and eventually rose to the rank of colonel. He also joined the Greek Liberal Party, the most important party at the time, and served in Parliament as representative of Aetolia-Acarnania county. He also remained involved in sports, as president of the Panhellenic Gymnastics Association (1925-1935) and as a member of the Greek NOC (1924-1935).
