Biography

Georgios Liveris was best known as a sport journalist, a profession that he picked up as a student at Panteion University. Working at several newspapers, his primary focus was motorsports, and he wrote two books on the subject, in addition to editing several magazines. As an athlete he was a skilled sport shooter and was selected to represent Greece in two small-bore rifle events at the 1960 Rome Olympics. There, he was 49th in the three positions event and joint-64th in the prone position. This was his only competitive appearance, but he took part in the Games nearly a dozen times more, as a coach and administrator.
