Ralph Berzsenyi (originally: Erich Beusterien) started hunting and shooting with his father. He only started competing when he was a university student, and when he competed for the first time in 1932, he immediately won the college championship. He competed in all pistol and rifle events. From 1933 to 1948, he was a competitor of the Budapest Civil Shooting Association, and in between for the Dégi Civil Shooting Association. After the Second World War, he first appeared in the colors of the Budapest Lokomotiv and then the Északi Járműjavító. From 1933 to 1950, he won the national championship title nine times as an individual and seventeen times as a team. From 1935 to 1950, he appeared six times in the Hungarian national team.
At the 1935 World Championship in Rome, he took sixth place in the team in the 40-shot standing competition of the small sports rifle. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics he won a silver medal in the small-barreled sport rifle in the prone position. He resigned from the national team in 1950 and stopped active sports in 1953.
In 1935, he graduated as a dentist from the Péter Pázmány University in Budapest. He initially practiced in the capital, then moved to Érsekújvár when the Felvidék was re-annexed. He returned to Budapest after the Second World War. He was previously a dentist at MÁV’s Northern Vehicle Repair, and then moved to Székesfehérvár in the 1950s. From the 1960s, he was again a general practitioner in Budapest and had a private practice. In addition to competitive shooting, he regularly hunted. He was a founding member of the Vértes Béke hunting association.
