Dermot Kelly was the top Irish trapshooter of the 1960s, competing in numerous international championships in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Italy. He was a member of the Irish Olympic shooting team on two occasions, at 1968 Mexico City and 1972 München, placing 47th and 38th respectively. A resident of Kilcock, County Kildare, where he was a company director, Kelly also founded the Olympic Trench Shooting Club in Ashbourne, Meath.
