A free pistol specialist, Luciano Galesi achieved the highlight of his international career at the 1955 Barcelona Mediterranean Games, when he won the bronze medal with 530 points, behind the Spaniards Angel Leòn, 556 points, who had won the silver medal three years earlier in the Helsinki Olympics, and Luis Palomo, 536 points. Galesi also competed in multiple dual meets in the 1950s and early 60s, including against Greece, France, and Austria.
Domestically Galesi won only one Italian title, in 1958, having strong competition with the Olympians Claudio Fiorentini and Giorgio Ercolani. After his sporting career, Galesi became a gunsmith, founding the Fabarm Company in the town of Travagliato, in the province of Brescia, which built hunting and shooting rifles.
