Sports shooter Ugo Simoni was a member of the Tiro a Segno Nazionale shooting club of Imola. At the age of 26 he competed in the Tokyo Olympics as a member of the Italian 50-metre free pistol team. Simoni was the youngest member of the three-man Italian team and the emotion of the occasion got the better of him and, although he passed the first round, he could only achieve a 33rd place with just 526 points in the second round.
