Biography

Mario Zorzi was an Italian sport shooter born in 1910 in Mattarello, a suburb of Trento. At age 22 he competed at the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics in the prone small-bore rifle, finishing fourth, just missing a bronze medal. Four years later he also took part at the Berlin Games, in the same event, placing eighth.

Zorzi was a member of the Carabinieri corps, but while going to a group of partisans to supply and inform them during the liberation war, he died at age 33 in a bombing raid in Frascati, near Roma, in February 1944. In 2013 the gym of Mattarello, where he was born, was named in his honor.
