Biography

Paul Vikhals competed initially for the Årvågfjord shooting team. After the club dissolved, he was one of the founders and first president of Dromnessund Skytterlag in 1904. At the 1912 Olympic Games, he competed in the free rifle and military rifle individual events. He became the shooting king at the National Shooting Championships in 1917 in Steinkjer. At the championships, he claimed top positions also in 1911, 1915 and 1926. In 1936, he still won the Norma Cup of the Swedish Hunter’s Association.

Vikhals had two sons and two daughters with his wife Hansine. He worked as a farmer, postmaster and herring fisherman.
