Art Macapagal competed in free pistol shooting at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics. He was the half-brother of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, President of the Philippines from 2001-10. They were the children of Diosdado Pangan Macapagal, the ninth President of the Philippines, who served from 1961-65.
Art Macapagal had offers to run for governor and a congressman, but went into business, becoming president and CEO of Toyota Pasong Tamo. For many years, he headed the Philippine National Shooting Association, and was also president of the Philippine Olympians Association.
