Biography

A Lieutenant Colonel in the Polish Army, Stanisław Romik spent his entire career in the military. In the sporting realm, he was active as a sport shooter for a decade, between 1951 and 1961, but his only major international appearance came at the 1960 Rome Olympics. There, he competed in the free pistol, 50 metres event and finished fifth out of 67 entrants. He earned several national distinctions as a sportsman, including a bronze Medal for Outstanding Sports Achievements, as well as the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, but retired shortly after the Games and settled into private life.
