Biography

Hansruedi Spillmann took up sport shooting at a young age and began honing his skills after World War II. The pinnacle of his career came at the 1960 Rome Olympics, when he won silver in the free rifle, three positions, 300 metres tournament and was 32nd in the small-bore rifle, prone, 50 metres category. He also took silver in that event at the 1962 World Championships, and captured bronze for Switzerland in the team versions of the 50 and 300 metres three positions events. Following his retirement from active competition, he served in several administrative positions in his sport and had the rank of major in the military. By career, he ran a paint manufacturing and trading company.
